Delete Your Recaps Data

Note: You can delete specific data without deleting your entire account. Your account will remain active, but selected data will be permanently removed.

How to Delete Your Data

Option 1: Delete from Mobile App

  1. Open the Recaps app on your mobile device
  2. Go to your Profile or Settings
  3. Navigate to "Privacy Settings" or "Data Management"
  4. Select the type of data you want to delete:
    • Videos and photos
    • Comments and interactions
    • Viewing history
    • Search history
  5. Tap "Delete Selected Data"
  6. Confirm your choice

Option 2: Email Request

Send an email to request deletion of specific data:

Email: support@recaps.app

Subject: Data Deletion Request

Include in your email:

  • Your registered email address
  • Your username
  • Specific data you want deleted (see options below)
  • Date range (if applicable)

We will process your request within 48 hours and send you a confirmation email.

Types of Data You Can Delete

1. Videos and Photos

Delete individual videos, photos, or all media content you've uploaded. You can keep your account but remove all your content.

Deletion time: Within 7 days

2. Comments and Interactions

Delete your comments, likes, and other interactions on the platform.

Deletion time: Within 7 days

3. Viewing History

Clear your video viewing history and watch preferences.

Deletion time: Immediate

4. Search History

Delete your search queries and search preferences.

Deletion time: Immediate

5. Profile Information (Partial)

Update or remove your bio, profile picture, and other optional profile fields. Your basic account information (email, username) will be retained to keep your account active.

Deletion time: Within 24 hours

Data That Cannot Be Selectively Deleted

The following data types cannot be deleted without deleting your entire account:

  • Account credentials: Email address and username (required for login)
  • Account creation date: Basic account metadata
  • Security logs: Login history for security purposes (auto-deleted after 90 days)

To delete this data, you must delete your entire account.

Data Retention After Deletion

What Gets Deleted:

  • Your selected content is removed from our active systems
  • The data is no longer accessible to you or other users
  • Deleted from backup systems within 30 days

What May Be Retained:

  • Anonymized analytics: Aggregated usage statistics (no personal identifiers)
  • Legal compliance: Data required by law for tax, legal, or audit purposes (typically 7 years)
  • Security purposes: Fraud prevention and security incident investigation (anonymized)

Before You Delete

  • Download your data first: Request a copy via email to support@recaps.app
  • Deletion is permanent: Deleted data cannot be recovered
  • Consider alternatives: You can make content private instead of deleting it
